Electrical Substation Engineer – Medium/High Voltage

Objective

We’re looking for an experienced electrical engineer to take on the technical and operational coordination of high and medium voltage substations for energy infrastructure projects in central Italy. This role is crucial for the safe and efficient integration of renewable generation assets into the national grid.

Your Role

  • Serve as the technical authority for HV/MV substations during construction, commissioning, and O&M phases
  • Lead interfacing with grid operators (TERNA, e-distribuzione) and ensure compliance with national electrical standards
  • Supervise EPC contractors and commissioning teams on-site, reviewing as-built documentation and technical drawings
  • Coordinate testing, protection systems, and grid code compliance procedures
  • Drive HSE enforcement during all substation-related activities
  • Monitor progress, risk, and critical interfaces with generation assets and grid points
  • Provide real-time input to project managers, engineering teams, and external consultants

Minimum requirements

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with MV/HV systems (substations, interconnection points, SCADA, protections, etc.)
  • Experience working with renewable projects (wind, solar, storage) is highly valued
  • Knowledge of Italian grid code (CEI standards) and interaction with national TSOs/DSOs
  • Fluent in Italian; English proficiency for technical documentation and meetings
  • Based in or near Rome, with availability for site visits throughout central Italy
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills under pressure
